제가 아는 분이 미국에 영주권자로 미국에 살다 영주권 포기하고 한국에 사시는데
최근 67세 정도 되셔서 social security 신청했는데 원래는 매달 천불 넘게 얘기 들었는데
영주권 포기했다고 반으로 줄여서 $600 정도 준답니다...
원래 이러나요? 정부가 걷은 돈 액수는 똑같은데.....
뭔가를 통해 더 많은 액수 받는 방법은 없나요?

Who is eligible for the maximum benefit? Social Security $$$는 권리입니다. 영주권 포기가 그 권리를 전부/일부를 디스카운트한다는 것은 들어 본 적도 없고 불법이라고 생각됩니다.
그런 결정을 내린 SSA Office에 가서, 영주권 포기 시 SSA Benefit Amount 조정에 대한 규정을 (만약 있다면) 반드시 서면으로 요청하세요.
